FIFA and WTO study predicts $47bn of economic impact in US for CWC2025 and World Cup in 2026

April 9 – FIFA’s two flagship men’s tournaments in the United States – the expanded 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup – are projected to generate a combined $47 billion in gross output and create nearly 300,000 jobs in the US, according to new research released by FIFA and the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

April 7 – England claims to be the home of football, but this summer, it won’t be the home of the FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) after both the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and their rivals, Independent Television (ITV) declined to move forward in televising the competition to be held in the United States.

April 6 – In early March, Ignacio Alonso from Uruguay made the wild proposal of expanding the FIFA World Cup from 48 teams to 64 in 2030. It is a proposal that is supported by Conmebol president Alejandro Dominguez and insiders say it is the brainchild of Gianni Infantino.

US and UK to host 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups. FIFA to rule on expansion to 48 teams

April 4 – The United States are set to have their second World Cup within a five-year time span after FIFA confirmed they are the only bidders for the 2031 Women’s World Cup. For 2035 the women will be headed for the UK after FIFA revealed the home nations are ‘sole bidders’ for the tournament.
