April 23 – New research from the CIES Football Observatory has revealed a striking lack of managerial stability across world football, with exactly 75.3% of current top-flight head coaches having been in their role for less than a year.

The study, which spans 65 leagues worldwide, highlights that only one in four coaches have held their position for a full season or more, with some of the world’s most high-profile competitions mirroring the global trend of short-term managerial tenures.

Keane, who spent five seasons in Los Angeles with the LA Galaxy winning three MLS Cups was on the sidelines as they won their sixth all-time title beating the New York Red Bulls 2-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Keane completed his UEFA Pro coaching license in 2020 and has made no secret of his desire to become a head coach in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The report shows the World Champions rank 12th out of the 144 teams surveyed, showing a warning signs for the side which regularly featured and relied upon ageing stars such as Leo Messi (37) and Angel Di Maria (36).

November 19 – Former Belgium international defender Toby Alderweireld has revealed that he decided to end his international career after thinking he was “going to die”.

The 35-year-old, who still plays for Royal Antwerp in the Belgian league, quit the international scene in March 2023 after winning 127 caps.

The former Tottenham Hotspur was part of the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ of Belgian players who finished third at the 2018 World Cup and also played in the 2014 and 2022 editions.

Topping the list is Barcelona’s teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal, with a staggering valuation of €180.9 million, significantly outpacing rivals like Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho (€114.8 million) and Paris Saint-Germain’s Warren Zaïre-Emery (€109.0 million). Sávio Moreira from Manchester City also broke the €100 million mark, with a valuation of €101.0 million.

The Portuguese giants ranked highest both in the number of players trained and in the ‘training index’ a metric that accounts for the competitive level of these players.
